TESTIMONIALS
"I have known Doug since 2008 when he came to plant a large area of native trees and shrubs (10,000 plus plants), for the Ashburton District Council, on the farm I manage for the A.D.C.
Doug and his workers did everything from the pre-spraying, planting and follow-up sprays for the next two and three years.
The quality of Dougs work is faultless which is proven by the survival rates and growth of all plants.
I find Doug to be a very polite, honest and knowledgeable man. He communicates well his intentions and knowledge of the required skills and regulations for the work he does.
He is very reliable and works hard but intelligently. I have found that his charge-out rates for his work are very competitive with other contractors, but the quality of Dougs work makes him far better value for money.
Because of Dougs very high qualities I have no problems, and great pleasure in recommending him for any work that people employ him to do."

"I have known Doug for about twenty years. Initially he planted shelter belt trees on my farm and latterly he has assisted in the establishment of my new garden, formerly a grass paddock.
When planting shelter trees I found Doug managed his gang well and maintained his schedule even in adverse weather conditions.
Regarding the present time I understand Doug still manages forest blocks for clients in the area and is also branching out into landscaping and planting around dairy conversions and other areas requiring visual improvement, also stream boundaries and wetlands.
Regarding my own newly established garden, Doug has sown a small lawn, done several mass plantings of spring bulbs, planted a significant area in natives, trimmed hedges and assisted with the choice of trees for my small orchard. He has also planted, sprayed and trimmed my woodlot. All this has been done with competence and good advice as to future management.
I understand Doug has fairly recently attended horticultural courses so that he can widen his knowledge to include landscaping and planting around dairy conversions and other areas requiring improvement, such as riparian planting.
Doug is so well known in the area that it does not seem necessary for me to state that I have found him to be hard working, honest, reliable and co-operative. He is a good person to have about and is very generous passing on his knowledge."

"My name is Mark Robins I am delighted to recommend Doug Lowry as he embarks on his new Rural Landscaping business, DOUG LOWRY CONTRACTING LTD.
Before retirement, I ran a business called Shelter and Design, for about 12 years. Doug, was my right-hand man throughout my time in business.
We worked together as a team for about 12 years planting to enhance the rural landscape.
Much of the Mid-Canterbury landscape had been denuded of shelter for dairy farm development. We met about this time.
It was our attempt to repair damage to dairy farms that occupid much of our time together. We replanted extensively.
Luckily I had dairy farmer contacts who were prepared to finance repairing dairy development and work was put our way.
Together we replanted the land that was to become the new centre pivot dairy industry.
The value of northwest and southwest shelter was still important and we both kept busy planting to forfill these needs.
We promised a contract to supply, plant and manage new plantings until establishment was guaranteed. That proved innovative and popular.
To sum up, our working life together was productive, rewarding and forfilling. Doug is a great fellow to work with as well as a good friend. He is knowledgeable, totally reliable and honest.
I recommend him for his ability to get the job done to your satisfaction."
